is said to be starting to move sections of 22 wind turbines today, Monday, 1st June 2009 from Searsport to Stratton – Maine – US.

TransCanada is already in the process of building the $320 million Kibby Wind Power Project in Kibby Township, on Kibby and Kibby Range mountains.
A total of 44 turbines are being planned to be erected at the wind power site, which is located northwest of Eustis-Stratton and about 15 miles from the Canadian border. The equipment being moved represents half of the turbines the Canadian energy company plans to erect and will be shipped during this summer to the site. It is said that TransCanada will also hold special events to mark the arrival of the turbines at some of the best viewing sites in communities along the travel route.
One of the confirmed events will be in Belfast on Thursday morning, 4th June 2009 at the Reny’s parking lot on Route 3 and another in Farmington on Friday 5th June 2009 at noon at the Franklin County Courthouse in the parking lot and grassy area.
According to TransCanada, out of the 44 turbine towers to be erected, 22 are expected to be installed this summer 2009 and provide power to the New England electricity grid by the end of the year.
A second major phase of turbines is expected to be shipped to the site during summer of 2010. TransCanada anticipates for the project to be complete in late 2010. The wind energy facility will have the capacity to produce 132 megawatts of power, enough renewable energy to meet the needs of 50,000 homes in Maine.
