Diesel powered generators or batteries are a reliable alternative source of energy when your windmill is shut down.
In any case, one can not deny that regardless of the per centage that your windmill is not operational in a day, wind mill power is the ultimate resource to cut your monthly energy costs and depending on location and output capacity of your windmill, one might even be able to sell any excess electricity back to the local energy board.
